Bass gear you actually need (and what you don't)
Gear acquisition syndrome is real and expensive. Here's the honest list of what earns its place early and what can wait.
Buy first
A playable bass, a reliable tuner, a decent cable, a strap, and a way to practice quietly. These remove friction and protect your gear.
Buy soon
A compressor once your technique is consistent, and fresh strings in the tone you want.
Buy later (or never)
Exotic pedals, second basses, and boutique amps. They're fun, but they don't make you a better player.
